NO more bee greeu’d at that which thou hast done,
Roses haue thornes,and siluer fountaines mud,
Cloudes and eclipses staine both Moone and Sunne,
And loathsome canker liues in sweetest bud.
All men make faults,and euen I in this,
Authorizing thy trespas with compare,
My selfe corrupting saluing thy amisse,
Excusing their sins more then their sins are:
For to thy sensuall fault I bring in sence,
Thy aduerse party is thy Aduocate,
And gainst my selfe a lawfull plea commence,
Such ciuill war is in my loue and hate,
   That I an accessary needs must be,
   To that sweet theefe which sourely robs from me,

3 Clouds … stain both Moon and Sun – См. 33.5-6, 34.3-4, а также 33.14, где само солнце staineth – позволяет облакам закрывать себя и пятнить (пятнать) то или того, кому оно отказывает в свете.

4 canker = болезнь, зараза, тля, червь – что-либо портящее, грызущее, калечащее, уничтожающее живой организм.        4 bud – Ср. 1.1-4, 11.

7-8 My self corrupting [in] salving thy amiss [by] excusing…

8 their sins = 5 all men’s sins. – См. также their в ДК к 27.10.

   Человеческие (о)грехи, вызванные естественными чувствами, Поэт и оправдывает естественностью, приводя аналоги в природе (2-4). В любви (и в описаниях любви) естественным является чувственный перебор.

9 thy sensual fault – ‘твой чувственный изъян’ (погрешность) = 6 thy trespass (твое прегрешение) = 7 thy amiss (твой недочет, промах) = thy bravеry (твоя смелость, бравада) в 34.4.

9-12 And ’gainst my self a lawful plea commence. – Вина (1) и в самом деле общая = моя. См. сонеты 22 и 36, также ДК к 36.10.
